Quilt Prep
Owl Night Longarm Quilting Preparation of Your Quilt
Quilt Top:
-Trim all threads. Press seam well. Make sure it lies smooth and flat. Ripples and puffy areas will not quilt well. Pay particular attention to borders. Make sure they are also smooth and flat.
-The top should be free of embellishments (ie: buttons, beads, crystals, etc)
Batting:
-Should be suitable for machine quilting.
Backing:
-Trim selvage edge before seaming backing and press. Sides should be straight and backing squared.
-Patterned backings are likely to not be centered and “off” on the final product.
-Bobbin thread will be matched close to the top thread to avoid “dots” or “pokies” from forming on top of the quilt.
–DO NOT BASTE OR PIN LAYERS TOGHETHER. They are loaded separately onto the quilting machine.
Binding:
-I will sew the binding to the front of the quilt, if desired. Send 1 yard of fabric (I will return any leftover). I will cut 2 1/2” strips width of fabric. Include your label and/or fabric for sleeve for hanging if you want it sewn into the binding. I will also hand sew the binding to the back upon request (see additional charges).
Quilting Density:
1. Density 1-light density edge to edge and most economical. Quilt will have a soft drape.
2. Density 2-quilted in a smaller scale pattern. This quilting will hold up to heavy use and frequent laundering.
3. Density 3-Heavier density with smaller scale designs.
*All our designs can be quilted at a density 3 level.
I will do any prep work for you for an additional charge (see additional service charges on page 1). Your quilt will be quilted in the order it was received.
